REFLEXOLOGY

A Brief History and Treatment Benefits

The earliest records of reflexology being depicted is on the wall of the tomb of Ankhmahor, a respected physician and official, second to the king. It shows practitioners treating hands and feet in 2500BC.

Reflexology has taken many forms and influences over the centuries until early 20th century when Dr. William Fitzgerald, Head of Nose and Throat department in Connecticut, US. Woking with patients he discovered that working pressure points on hands and feet produced pain relief. He started to map and the connections affected. He divided the body into zones running head to toe, before developing his findings into the reflexology we know today with the parts of the body mapped on feet and hands.
